Self-love & Relationships.

Ted Talks :

The following Ted Talks speak about the importance of loving yourself before getting into a relationship.

1) Tracy McMillan speaks about how you should marry yourself, before you marry someone else :

2) Alexandra Redcay explains how to select the right relationship :

Relationships & Me :

Due to the following traits, relationships have been particularly difficult for me in the past :

1) I’m an introvert, and obviously, not very good with people. I get either too enthusiastic or too bored.

2) I’m highly sensitive.

3) I overthink.

4) I seek approval.

5) I’m a people pleaser (so I’ve always put the needs of others before my own).

6) I’m weird.

However, unlike the old me, I no longer believe that I need a man to complete me.

Self-love & Me :

A few years ago, after suffering from depression due to an abusive relationship, I started practicing self-love.

Learning to love myself after 23+ years of hating who I was, was difficult. However, overtime it became easier.

For the first time in more than two decades, I was beginning to finally see my worth, weirdness and all.

Self-love is a habit which needs to be practiced daily. There are days when I still overthink to the point of breaking down, but I’m working on it.

Love yourself, and be your own reason to smile!

P. S. I’ve written two poems on self-love, in the past, namely ‘Depression & Self-love‘ and ‘Crying With Love‘.

Do check them out.

Thank you for reading! Stay blessed!
