Playlist - Healing.

Updated: May 13

It's been a while since I've posted a playlist of my favourite songs. Last month was pretty rough for me, and music literally saved my soul. When in turmoil, some people turn to alcohol, some people turn to drugs, I turn to music.

First, I recorded my version of 'Iris' by the band Goo Goo Dolls on the guitar. Let's be honest, most of us don't like how we sound when recorded, and I haven't been a big fan of my voice either, especially when I sing something which isn't in my vocal range. But this time I stuck to my vocal range, and it turns out that being extremely emotional when recording a song makes it turn out pretty great. My cover did pretty great on YouTube as well, in comparison to all my other covers uploaded over the years -- 1,000 views in a few days as compared to 300 views over years. As the saying goes, you are your only competition. *wink*

Here's the cover:

As per an article online, the song was written by Goo Goo Doll's vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik for the 1998 romantic movie 'City of Angels' starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. In the movie, Cage’s character is an immortal angel who throws away his immortality for love. He becomes human so he can be with the one he loves -- which explains the lyrics of the first verse "I'd give up forever to touch you, 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow, You're the closest to Heaven that I'll ever be, And I don't wanna go home right now."

I then started following some pretty amazing artists and music pages on Instagram and listened to so many new songs on repeat that I've become obsessed with them all. Extremely cozy warm hugs, that's the best way I can describe how wonderful listening to these songs feels like.
